Prince Malchezaar saved my life Saturday night. We had a pattern of infernal drops during the third phase that put me too far away from the raid but also penned me in. I started to move across the infernals’ blast radius while popping all my cooldowns to get in range of the healers, but it was clear that I wasn’t going to make it. But then Prince did his knock-back thing and tossed me over the infernals and to precisely where I needed to be relative to the raid. Nice.
Incidentally, I have yet to see the warrior/priest/druid Tier 4 token drop from Prince. 
You will get it. Just be patient.
Nice thing that he actually helped you on your positioning. That makes me think about actually using it to your advantage, to positioning yourself in a way that you will be knocked back to where you want. This is possible, and I will try to think about it in the heat of the battle.

PS: I tank with Akil’zon Talonblade, cause I’ve never seen a King’s Defender, nor a Sun Eater drop. I’m exalted with violet eye, and have ran Mech heroic more than 50 times.

I agree with Gigeer. While I was lucky enough to get my KD on my first Kara run, our other tanks haven’t seen it drop since.
Don’t worry about it, though. Either you’ll get that helm soon or end up with a Battleworn Tuskguard from ZA and it won’t even matter anymore.
Hi, I’ve just started reading your blog and it inspirited me to start one of my own. I never thought I’d have anything interesting to say as a tank but now I look at it, I kinda do so, thank for you!
On the note of being unlucky, I’ve D/Ced during chess and during that D/C the game counted me out of the game and lo and behold, King’s defender dropped and I wasn’t able to loot it or the badges. So I contacted a GM and they said they will be able to get me the item. A friend of mine was kind enough to hold it in his bags so the GM can transfer it over. I did a lot of flirting with the GM as well, which seemed to of helped.
But in the end after being bumped to the second tier GMness, they deemed me unable to get the item because the game counted me out for those lame 3 minutes. So I waited and I got it again a few weeks down the road.
On the topic of prince, I am curious to know which tactic you use on him in terms of positioning.
You may not want to hear it but we’ve seen King’s Defender drop three times so far and we’ve done Chess maybe only a dozen times or so.
Welcome Virendis. The strategy we use on Prince is to have the MT tank him far out along the wall that is to your right as you enter the area — note quite to the corner, but watch out for a little nook out there which can beak LOS between you and the healers. If the healers and ranged DPS are at maximum distance this puts them within 10-20 yards or so of the doorway. We prefer this strategy to having the raid right at the doorway because it gives them more options if an infernal drops nearby.

Aye aye, such a simple tactic, we use that one as well. It’s just funny to think that such a concept of minimizing the space to which the infernals land. I about dropped my jaw when that plan was brought to me, then again, it’s not job to think (well, not all the time) I just tank! And thanks for the warm welcome. In all the times I’ve killed prince, I’ve only see the tank T4 token drop twice. I finally got it the second time after I had pretty much given up.
