Ugh. Due to real life constraints I usually cannot start anything serious in WoW earlier than 7:00 PM my time which means if I am raiding with Jess or decide to do a “quick” heroic with Aksana after my dailies I can easily be up till 1:00 or 1:30. Now I realize for some people that isn’t a big deal at all, but real life also gets me up at 7:00 AM at the latest most mornings. The combination of the two results in what I like to call the World of Warcraft Hangover:
Symptoms:
- general fatigue
- throbbing eye sockets
- sore ears (glasses + cheap headset = ouch)
- sore back
- cramped fingers
- really f*****-up dreams
Nevertheless Saturday and Sunday mornings me and a few of my guildies are online with our morning coffee for a little hair of the dog (link for those of you not familiar with that expression).
Heh. The WoW Hangover reminds me of my misspent youth when I would come home with a bangover…the sore neck and screaming headache you get from headbanging all night.
This is one of the reasons that I’ve drifted away from MMO’s for a while…trying to keep up with guildies and other friends when you can’t start before 7pm and you have to get up at 5am 4 days a week is just too freaking hard.
I have known that feeling well. Pre-TBC when I was more dedicated to WoW I used to feel that every day. 8 hour day at work, 8 hours of WoW at night – weekends would be about 18 hours per day as well. Serious playing. This was mainly due to trying to fit Raiding, normal Instances and PvP in all the time. I just thought of it as “burning the candle at both ends” – but I like the “WoW Hangover” idea.
@ teh Khol Abides – bangovers are more common for me these days
[...] to get my little priest to 60. After numerous hours of playing to the point where I had a real WoW Hangover going my husband and I were getting grouchy and I was tired of him telling me “Look at your [...]
Yeah. Real life kind of messes up playing a lot of time. I’d like to fina guild content of raiding between 9 and 12pm. That is about impossible unfortunately ;(
/second that Daddytank! My guild raids from 6pm my time (PST) to 10 and I can barely make it to raids. (It’d be easier if I didn’t have to feed the husband, but I think he might not like that. rofl)
wow hangover, gosh i know this feeling. I´ve been living on it for about a year or so. Don´t worry, you will get used to it.
